Innovative microtechnology: Perfect solutions for miniature components

Microtechnology is not just about reducing the size of components. It also requires completely new approaches in manufacturing technology, particularly in mould construction, injection moulding, and article handling.

We utilise cutting-edge technology for micro injection moulding in our state-of-the-art production facilities. This enables us to fulfil the sensitive requirements of this technology with ease. Our expertise covers the entire process, from mould design to removing items from the mould and the handling of micro-precision parts.

With our expertise in multi-component injection moulding, we offer custom solutions for your complex microtechnology projects.

Products

Insulating part

Using a 16-cavity mould, we inject high-performance plastic PEEK Items with a unit weight of only 0.0016 g These items are used to insulate electronic components. We use ejector pins of just 0.3 mm in diameter – by way of comparison, a universal sewing needle has twice the diameter of the ejector pins used here.

Valve

There are special requirements for the plungers used in pneumatics. In order to be able to manufacture flash-free sealing elements, we use a crease and manufacture them in two steps (2K). In this way we can produce a firmly bonded form-fit item without a separation around the sealing groove. All of this is achieved with an 8-cavity tool in various types of polyamide.

Catch

A 16-cavity tool for POM components for a shaver. The best way to reproduce the dynamics of an electric razor is with small component dimensions. Wear, friction and accuracy are the key words here. To ensure that the end product moves freely and to maximise the power of the system as a whole, strict positioning tolerances must be observed. Moreover, the geometry of the item requires many non-tool-based dimensions to be taken into account in the tool and, of course, in the process.

Technologies

Greatness is measured not in units but by quality.

It’s not just the component that’s micro – the production environment must be micro as well. The smallest machinery, precise measuring instruments, and sensitive gripping and logistics equipment are essential to ensure safe handling. This applies to the manufacturing, further processing, and quality assurance, right through to the packaging of micro-components and micro-assemblies.

MICROTECHNOLOGY

We produce hundreds of millions of items per year with an average unit weight of 0.2 g. We achieve an unprecedented item weight of less than 0.001 g.

A high volume of parts demands flexibility, as multiple machines often need to be used simultaneously for a single product.

To meet these demands, we place special emphasis on the ‘system approach’, which enables us to operate efficiently and flexibly.

MACHINE AND PROCESS TECHNOLOGY

Our successful production with maximum efficiency is based on state-of-the-art machinery and process technology. This forms the basis for our high-quality results.

We also offer multi-component production. We can make the most of the different functions of the materials used or create geometries that cannot be conventionally removed from the mould with two-component injection moulding.

AUTOMATION

As well as producing micro items from plastic, we also use micro-assembly automatic joining processes.

From the assembly of small components and modules to the functionalisation of selected components of an item, a wide range of scenarios can be realised to meet our customers’ requirements.
